My literacy lullaby.

Our Poem/Lullaby:
Go to sleep my little friend,
Sunshine streams shining
with nothing to mend.
Celebration with the sun,
You are my only, little one.
Let your life be filled with happiness running about.
Living your dream without a doubt,
Keep your dream alive like friendly lions running mid-roar.
Hit that snooze button on the door,
You wake up happy but with a fright
Your day will be amazing, happy and bright,
Come back later and you will see.
You're very happy dream is now your reality,
Go to bed, your light is bright,
Have nice dreams, Good night…

Maori Translation

Kia mau ki to koutou moemoea ora ano he hoa raiona rere waenganui-haruru.
Patua e pātene aukatia te i runga i te kuwaha,
hari engari ki te wehi koe ki runga ara.
ka kia mīharo, hari, me te kanapa koutou ra,
Haere mai hoki i muri mai, a ka kite koe.
kei koe moe rawa hari ko koutou mau,
Haere ki te moenga, he kanapa to koutou marama,
Whai moe pai, po pai ...

  1. What a gorgeous poem, When I read it, I wonder if it was easy or difficult for the three of you to collaborate and write this lullaby together? The Maori translation reminds me of a song I learnt at Whakatu Marae. What was the inspiration for this lullaby?
